Stampin up baby punch art

I created a baby card this week for a friend of mine and I must admit that this is one of my favorites!

First of all, I must give all the punch art credit to a very talented SU! demonstrator, Geraldine Andrade. Her baby punch art (amongst all her punch art) is absolutely amazing! You can check out her blog at http://mafercreations.blogspot.com

The baby is made from 6 different & current punches

Although Geraldine already put together a quick reference guide for you in her blog, I decided to make a couple of changes of my own and re-created the reference guide.

My tips:
  • to shorten the word window, punch thru your paper half-way then move your punch toward the right to get the length you want and punch all the way thru.
  •  for the diaper piece, use the same 1 3/4" punch to crop a small piece out of the full 1 3/4" circle
  • when creating the pacifier and hair pieces, first punch the smaller circle then use the larger circle punch to align it.

Supplies used:
  • cardstock: baja breeze, very vanilla, summer starfruit, soft suede
  • DSP: patio party
  • stamps: cuddles and kisses
  • inks: midnight muse, blush blossom
  • punches: 1 3/4" circle, 1 1/4" circle, word window, owl builder, cupcake, itty bitty punch pack (circle only), 1" square (for the banner)
  • Big Shot items: cloud embossing folder
  •  non-SU!: 1/8" handheld punch, flesh-colored cardstock (for the baby's body)

Get all these products and more, $156  to be exact, when you purchase the Stampin' UP! starter kit for only $99.

Stampin Up quintessential flower

Sale-a-bration is quickly coming to an end and even though I didn't collect ALL of the free products, I'm content with what I did collect. One of the products I really wanted was the quint-essential flower because I'm a sucker for stamp and it's coordinating punch

In this case, you can use 5 different punches for this cutie: 2 3/8" scallop circle, 1 3/4" scallop circle, 1" circle, 3/4" circle, and 1/2" circle.

Here's an example of a card that I put together for a workshop that I will be doing this weekend that features the quint-essential flower.

Supplies used:
  •   Cardstock (Pgs 152-156): crumb cake, pear pizzaz, so saffron, very vanilla, baja breeze
  • DSP (designer series paper) (pg 162): first edition specialty
  • Stamps: quint-essential flower (pg 110 or get it for FREE with a $50 purchase)
  • Inks (Pgs 152-156): baja breeze, so saffron, pear pizzaz, basic black
  • Punches pg 182-185: 1” circle, 2 3/8” scallop circle, 1 ¾” scallop circle, boho blossoms, blossom petals builder, modern label, word window
  • Embellishments: pearl basic jewels (pg 175), bitty buttons (pg 176)
  • Trim: linen thread (pg 173)
  • Embossing folder: needlepoint border (pg 5 Spring catalog)

My tips:
  • for the petals, use an embossing tool and some foam as your surface to create the line down the center of the petal. fold and crease to give some dimension.
  • use your fingers to "work" the petals of the flowers by flipping it back and forth to soften the paper and raise the petals to give it dimension.

Take advantage of the last 2 days left in sale-a-bration. Place at least a $50 order with me and get FREE SHIPPING! To get this special offer, you must e-mail me your order before March 22nd: jretana06@gmail.com

Stampin UP Sent with love & Easter projects

I finally got the opportunity to play around a little bit with the Sent with Love stamp bundle to prepare for my March stamp club and I really enjoyed the experience!
This stamp set fits any occasion and season!

I created this project with the desire to teach my ladies some double embossing that I learned from Dawn Olchefske. Watch her video below for the technique.

This card is vibrant with colors just in time for the spring season and simple enough for a quick card.

Inside of card

Supplies Used:
o   Cardstock: whisper white, island indigo, calypso coral

o   DSP: Sent with love DSP

o   markers: real red, pool party, island indigo, calypso coral

o   Punches: XL oval, heart border (retired), 1”

o   Stamp sets: sent with love

o   Ribbons: sycamore street ribbon: island indigo (SAB)

o   Cloudy day* and oval designer frame embossing folders

o   Sycamore street button (SAB)

Note: * denotes items from Spring catalog

My Tips:
  • to fit the airplane with heart trail into the XL oval punch:
    •  shorten the heart trail by creating a mask that covers the airplane and part of the trail; Stamp onto CS; then create a mask for the whole heart trail and stamp the airplane onto the CS.

Another project my ladies made is an Easter treat box just in time for the upcoming Easter holiday!
I prefer to make this project about the true reason we celebrate this holiday....... the great sacrifice and resurrection that Jesus Christ made to save us from eternal death due to our sin against God.

My Tips:
  • create the dove with a little bit of punch art:
    • use the largest petal from the blossom petals punch and create the wings using the bird builder punch
    • add 2 more tails using the bird punch to create a fluffier tail for the dove
  •   use the emboss-resist technique and some sponge daubers with ink to create the colorful phrase.
  •  use a clear window sheet for the box for some variety

Supplies Used:

o   Cardstock: so saffron, whisper white, old olive, soft suede
o   DSP: Regal rose DSP
o   Inks: versamark, soft suede, regal rose, rose red
o   Markers: so saffron, black
o   Punches: two-step bird, scallop border, blossom petal
o   Stamp sets: Easter blessings
o   Big Shot supplies: Fancy favor die
o   White embossing powder
o   Sponge daubers
o   Clear window sheet

I sure hope you enjoyed these projects as much as I did!

Stampin UP dapper dad & beyond plaid

I recently participated in a mail-swap a couple of weeks ago and the theme for the swap was masculine or for kiddos.
Since I'm always needing a masculine card, I decided to go with using the dapper dad  and beyond plaid stamp sets in the Spring catalog.

I really wanted to extend the wrist-band of the watch to fit the length of my card and came up with this idea. I must say, I'm pretty proud of how it came out!

My tips:
  • stamp watch image on white cardstock and trim the top and bottom wrist-band as shown.

  • use the herringbone image from the beyond plaid stamp set and stamp vertically onto cardstock multiple times, making sure to line up as best as you can.
  • Cut out 2 pieces about a 2 1/4" length then trim one end with the 1" circle punch.
  • Adhere on top of original wrist-band.

  • stamp another watch image and cut out the clock with a 1" circle punch. Adhere on top of original watch with a dimensional.
  • add a rhinestone as the final touch and voila!

Supplies Used:
  • cardstock: whisper white, midnight muse, pool party
  • inks: midnight muse, basic grey
  • stamp sets: dapper dad, beyond plaid, a word for you
  • punches: 1" circle
  • rhinestones

I really like the simplicity, masculine, and clean look of this card. A card most men would appreciate.

Comment on my post below to let me know what you think. I'd love to hear from you!
